About

The Triunfo Cristal Páez Indigenous reservation is made up of five communities (Villa Pinzón, Betania, El Cabuyo, Los Caleños, and San Juanito) whose livelihoods depend on traditional agriculture practices. Despite being one of the largest Indigenous regions in Valle del Cauca, Triunfo Cristal Páez lacks access to public services including electricity and communication.

Colombia Verde empowers Indigenous Peoples to take control of their territory, defend their rights, and exercise their authority with unity, autonomy, and dignity.  Situated in the municipality Florida of Valle del Cauca, Colombia Verde’s initiatives are determined by the community and aim to foster stronger ties of solidarity and cooperative assistance.

Electricity brings us to the present, facilitating daily life and opening up many other opportunities.
— Luis Dagua, Chief Councilor of the Triunfo Crystal Páez Indigenous Reserve

HF Partnership

In partnership with the Honnold Foundation and in consultation with participating communities, Colombia Verde will install solar on 16 of the most remote homes across the reservation. Though the solar will be installed on specific homes, each installation will be the responsibility of and support the needs of the larger community. Hands-on training and education during the solar installation will ensure that community members have the skills needed to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
