About

EarthSeed Farm is dedicated to reconnecting Afro-Indigenous communities with their cultural and ecological roots through education, restorative practices, and hands-on permaculture. The farm hosts diverse programs, including intergenerational youth education, community gatherings, and educational residencies. Operating on the principles of Afro-Indigenous permaculture, the farm emphasizes ecological restoration, community healing, and sustainability. The farm also serves as a model for using renewable energy solutions and showcasing the potential for a future off the grid.

Our planned solar infrastructure is an essential strategic expression of our Afro-Indigenous permaculture principles, namely “work with nature,” “use on-site resources,” and “use and value diversity.” This project enables us to continue the community work we’re already doing in better keeping with our values.

HF Partnership

With support from the Honnold Foundation, Mighty Arrow Foundation, and Hammond Climate Solutions Foundation, EarthSeed Farm is upgrading its solar infrastructure to meet the growing energy needs of its educational programs and farming operations. This project will improve and expand the farm’s solar system to fully charge its electric vehicle fleet, power irrigation systems, and supply energy to the farmhouse, farm store, and wholesale processing areas. The project aligns with the farm’s mission of fostering sustainability, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and serving as a community resilience hub for visitors and participants in its educational and restorative programs.
